Immigrant Visa

An immigrant visa is issued to foreign nationals who will obtain permanent residency upon entering the U.S. This visa permits them to enter any U.S. port of entry. Once in the country, they can then be granted their permanent resident or immigrant status.

Nonimmigrant Visa

Nonimmigrant visas are issued to foreign nationals who plan to visit the United States for a temporary period. These visas specify the purpose of the visit and the allowed duration of stay. Foreign citizens can obtain these visas for various reasons, such as business, tourism, leisure, or medical treatment. Common types of temporary nonimmigrant visas include student visas, business visas, and investor visas.

Business Immigration

People immigrate to the United States for various reasons, with the opportunity to conduct business and secure employment being among the most common. One way to achieve this is by obtaining a business visa. These visas are intended for individuals seeking temporary residence in the U.S. for professional, educational, or travel purposes. Common applicants for business visas include teachers, exchange students, business professionals, media personnel, religious workers, physicians, college students, journalists, and foreign military members stationed in the U.S.

Student Visas

Foreign students planning to attend a university, college, high school, private elementary school, seminary, conservatory, or other academic institution in the United States must apply for an F-1 student visa. Those attending nonacademic institutions or vocational programs need to apply for an M-1 student visa. Like all visa categories, student visas require extensive documentation, paperwork, and preparation. Additionally, all foreign students must meet the requirements set by the Immigration and Nationality Act to qualify for a student visa. These requirements include:

  • Acceptance at a recognized academic school

  • Sufficient financial assets to pursue the course of study

  • Sufficient preparation for the course of study

  • Intent to leave the United States after completing the course of study
